Introduction Like most elective cosmetic procedures, deciding to have a breast augmentation is a process. It starts with unhappiness about your breasts. It always involves size, but can incorporate other issues such as asymmetries, sagging, shape or a combination of these. Breast augmentation has become so popular that you may have friends that have had the procedure done already whether you know it or not.
Today the choices involved are numerous and women more vocal about what they want. The more you look into it the more confusing it may become. It is my opinion that women should be aware of all the options, the pros and cons and how their individual anatomy may be effected. No two women have the same anatomy or the same desires. What may have worked for your best friend may not work for you at all. I have tried to put together an explanation of all the aspects of breast augmentation that I consider part of the decision making process. Please read through the following discussion in order as many sections rely on explanations given in preceding sections. Every plastic surgeon you talk to will have a different opinion as to what is important and what isn't. The truth is that no one can guarantee you a perfect result. Know your options, consider them carefully and make your best decision. Chances are excellent that you will get a good result and be happy you had the procedure. - Lori H.
